Statistics from one of the Arab countries revealed that it did not achieve self-sufficiency in foodstuffs except in one product, which is eggs.
This was reported by the Kuwaiti newspaper, Al-Qabas, noting that the Parliamentary Budget Committee revealed, on Monday, that the indicators relating to agriculture and fisheries showed a decline in most of them.
She pointed out that the most prominent examples were recorded in the decline in the domestic production of fisheries by 49 percent during the last ten years.
"Self-sufficiency has not been achieved from local production except for the egg product," she said, noting that the sufficiency ratios for most of the nutrients have declined.
The newspaper pointed out that the percentage of the increase in cultivated areas during the last ten years represented only 4 percent, while the holdings for the same years increased by 44 percent.
