The Sudanese Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries announced the resumption of live livestock exports to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, after a three-month hiatus since last October, due to the Saudi authorities ’request for health requirements.
The Sudan News Agency "SUNA" quoted Dr. Yahya Ali Sibel, director of the quarries and meat health department at the ministry, as saying that Saudi Arabia had previously requested that the percentage of livestock immunity be 40%, while the ministry requested that it be 30%, according to the previous agreement with the Kingdom before stopping exports.
He pointed out that there are 400 thousand sheep in the quarries prepared for export, stressing that there are arrangements to establish a commercial protocol between Sudan and Saudi Arabia that preserves the rights of exporters and importers, and that the flow of exports will be permanent.
He stressed the ministry's keenness on human and animal health and the implementation of all health requirements according to the World Organization for Animal Health.
