Mustafa Abdel-Gawad, head of the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture's Sugar Crops Council, told Reuters on Tuesday that the strategic reserves of sugar are sufficient to cover consumption for at least six months.
Abdel-Gawad added that the country produced about 2.3 million tons of sugar in the 2020 season, including 860,000 tons of sugar cane and 1.4 million tons of beets.
