Researchers from Belgium and Spain have uncovered potential new benefits of green tea extracts in treating deformities in Down syndrome patients.
The researchers noted - in their study, which was published in the journal (Scientific Reports) - that taking green tea extracts can reduce facial distortion in children with Down syndrome, if they are regularly taken over the first three years of the child's life.
Additional experimental research conducted on mice indicated the positive effects even in the event of consuming low doses of green tea, stressing that more research is needed to reach a full understanding of the effects of green tea extracts, as well as the need to consume it under medical supervision.
