A nutritionist refutes the "myth" of healthier fruit and vegetable color

A nutritionist advised that it is necessary to eat plant foods of all colors to obtain the necessary vitamins and nutrients.

The Russian specialist, Ekaterina Burlieva, a medical specialist, refuted the need to eat all kinds of fruits and vegetables, and not focus only on green vegetables.

"Red, chestnut and almost black contain lycopene, which slows the progression of atherosclerotic changes in the blood vessels and reduces the risk of certain types of neoplastic diseases, in addition to the anthocyanins that are essential for vision," Burleeva said in a comment on Arguments and Facts.

She pointed out that orange and yellow vegetables and fruits are useful for eye carotenoids, while greens contain indole, which reduces the possibility of developing certain types of tumors that depend on hormones.
