Try to produce drinking water from dry air

Using biotechnology, the Pentagon seeks to extract drinking water from dry air.

Peter Henham, director of promising defense research programs at the Pentagon, said work is under way in the ministry on building "smart" dressings, growing airstrips for helicopters and a device that extracts drinking water from dry air.

In a press conference on Thursday, he stressed that biotechnology is one of the priority activities in the section assigned to him.

"When I talk today about biotechnology used in fields and field targets, I mean the helipads that can be developed and thus the logistical burden that no longer exists," said Henham.

Work is also under way to design and produce a device that uses very little energy that can withdraw drinking water, even from dry air. "
