Hydroponics ... New technologies to save food in New York

Scientists are racing to innovate the latest methods of planting plants to achieve optimal use of the soil, especially in areas that do not have large areas for cultivation, such as large cities.

New methods of cultivation have appeared within an underground farm in New York City, USA, as scientists are working to invent new technologies that allow plants to be grown without soil.

New technologies depend on providing minerals and nutrients and planting plants directly in water without the need for soil.

These techniques are called "hydroponics", in which minerals and nutrients are used in water solutions that enable plants to absorb directly and grow without the need for soil to incubate their roots.

Scientists expect that this type of agriculture could become the main source of getting fresh food in future cities.
