Discover the secret of a Chinese drink that is more than 2000 years old

Archaeologists have solved the mystery about a drink preserved in a Chinese pot more than 2,000 years old.

Archaeologists found in the city of Sanmenxia, central China, on a bronze vessel made in the form of a swan with a mysterious brown liquid dating back to 206 BC, according to the newspaper, "The Bible CN".

After months of analysis, scientists concluded that the liquid was in fact a distilled beverage similar to medicinal wines recorded in an ancient medical book discovered in the Mawangdui tombs and possibly dating back to the Han Dynasty.

"It is rare to see a bronze vessel like this one, and analyzes found that the vessel was used to store alcohol," said the director of the Institute of Cultural Archeology and Archeology in Sanmenxia.

According to the newspaper, tests will continue on the liquid to obtain more information about the raw materials used in its production.
