German and Swedish scientists announce the discovery of a substance that suppresses the Corona virus

A group of German and Swedish scientists discovered that the fluvastatin drugs that are used to treat hypercholesterolemia have a suppressive effect on the Corona virus.

And in the study published on the MedRxiv website, the scientists indicated that fluvastatin affects affected cells by suppressing their transformation and SARS-CoV-2 replication.

The study confirmed that Covid-19 patients who received treatment with drugs belonging to the statin group or HMG-CoA enzyme inhibitors had better clinical recovery results.

According to the scientists, the study results indicate that fluvastatin does not pose an additional risk to people infected with the Coronavirus, and it may have a moderate positive effect on disease transmission.
