Director of the Food Program: 2000 billionaires seize 8 trillion dollars, and the world contains 30 million hungry people

World Food Program Director David Beasley pleaded with the world's richest to help save about 30 million people, who he said could starve to death if they did not receive aid from the program.

On Thursday, Beasley told the UN Security Council that some 270 million people worldwide were on the verge of starvation and that the WFP hoped to help 138 million this year.

"We need 4.9 billion dollars for one year to feed all 30 million people who will die unless they get help from the World Food Program," he added.

He pointed out that there are about 2,000 billionaires, whose net worth is eight trillion dollars, and that some made billions during the Corona pandemic.

"I don't object to making money, but humanity is facing the most severe crisis any of us have ever experienced in his life," said Beasley, the former governor of South Carolina.
